Hiring-signal pitch letter (template)
DRAFT, awaiting Brad's edit and signature2026-09-05
The hiring-signal letter
For posted demand: a company with an open data-engineering or data-platform role. The posting IS the signal, so this letter never has a dishonest send. Known live targets from day-one recon: Steelcase (Data Analytics Engineer), Meijer (Senior Data Engineer), MillerKnoll (Data Scientist, AI & Data Science team). One email, sent by Brad.
The stance that keeps this letter honest: we are not competing with the hire. The pitch is the gap between posting and start date, plus the backlog that created the posting, plus a better first day for whoever they eventually hire.
The slots
{FIRST_NAME},{COMPANY}: obvious. Prefer the hiring manager over HR.{ROLE_TITLE}: the posting's own words.{POSTING_DETAIL}: one specific from the posting proving we read it (a named tool, a responsibility line), not a restatement of the title.{PHYSICAL_ADDRESS}: CAN-SPAM footer.

The letter
{FIRST_NAME},
You are hiring a {ROLE_TITLE}, and {POSTING_DETAIL}. A posting like that usually means the work is hurting now, and a good hire is months away between sourcing, notice periods, and ramp-up.
I am a data engineer in Grand Rapids, fifteen years in: a data platform that integrated 4.9 billion data points from more than 10,000 sources, a messaging system holding 99.9% uptime across millions of messages. I can start on the hurting part next week, on a fixed scope you approve in writing first.
To be clear about what I am not: I am not a replacement for your hire, and I will not try to talk you out of making one. What I offer is the gap. When your person starts, they inherit working pipelines and written documentation instead of a backlog and a mystery, which is the difference between a first month and a first year. If it helps, I am happy to give a technical read on finalists too; I have sat on that side of the table.
My rates are public at bradley.io/services: $150 to $275 an hour, projects $25K to $100K. If the honest answer is that you should just wait for your hire, I will say that in the first meeting and leave you alone.
Full disclosure, because it is the whole point: this letter was drafted by an AI that I operate, every word was reviewed and signed by me, and the entire operation is documented in the open at housecalls.bradley.io. We are out to prove AI can be used for good, at a reasonable price.
